Vineyards: From the Zacharias family slopping vineyards at Nemea – at the location called “Tsintari”
Altitude: 400m. from sea level
Winemaking: Pre-fermentation maceration (cold soak) for 3 days and then red classic winemaking method, with a 15-20 days skin contact in 22 – 25o C. Aging for one year in new French oak barriques and then for seven months in the bottle.
Characteristics: Agiorgitiko in its premium version, coming from the oldest Zacharias family vineyards, half of them located at the slopes around Leontio village and the rest at the foot of the Acropolis of ancient Floundas – where the famous Fliassios wine used to be made in antiquity. LEXIS NEMEA has a deep red color and an aromatic density and strength on the nose, with intense hints of red fruits and sweet spices. It is full-bodied, with round and opulent feel, loaded with complex flavor of cherry, vanilla, coffee and sweet spices and a long aftertaste.
Aging potential: LEXIS NEMEA could further age in the bottle for 8 – 10 years.
Food pairing: Juicy red meats (beef and pork) served with spicy sauces, game and matured yellow cheeses.
